Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) deploys 772 voter educators who will use road shows, posters and newspaper adverts in voter education and awareness campaigns

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) will this coming weekend deploy 772 voter educators who will conduct voter education and awareness campaigns in all the seven districts of Matabeleland North province.

The campaigns are scheduled to commence on the 1st of next month with the first 16 days, considered as the first of the four phases, covering part of Binga and part of Lupane.

A number of initiatives which include road shows, posters and newspaper adverts will be used to educate the public.

ZEC Provincial Elections Officer for Matabeleland North Province, Mr Mark Ndlovu said in addition to the voter education, the training of the 670 bio-metric voter registration officers to be deployed in 838 centres around the province will be completed on the 3rd of next month.

“Since media houses are here, we hope they will be in a position to work with us as we start to conduct this voter registration exercise because we really need people to know all the information. We have also completed the recruitment of seven master trainers who will be responsible for conducting all the training sessions that will be done in different districts,” said Mr Ndlovu.

Stakeholders, who represented faith based organisations, the civic society and government departments submitted their contributions to be considered by ZEC.
